The LEGO Technic Hot Rod costs $39.99 and comes with 414 pieces making it less than 10 cents per piece which makes it, like most other Technic sets, good value. The overall look of this is fantastic with the defined engine and cab areas. I love the stickers on this that give a menacing look. This is further emphasised by the low ride and huge engine which looks fantastic with the inclusion of of the big intake. Inside the cab are nice steering wheel and seat details and I really like the chunky rear wheels. There are three main functions with this set which all work well. The first is front steering that allows you to change direction as you push this around. Another feature is that the pistons on the engine at the front actually work as you push the car. The final feature is that, by turning a knob, the roof and back panels lift up before the roof tucks away underneath the panels. I love the way this all works on in one swift movement. This model rebuilds into a Rally Car. This looks pretty good too and I like the way the exhaust pieces have been used for headlights. This too features a piston engine and steering only if you want to get at the engine you have to manually open the flap at the back. Overall, I really like the look of this set and it is good value. The functions are also pretty good and little details have made a big difference. A very nice technic model.
