LEGO® Star Wars 2015 Advent Calendar 75097 Review

I always find the LEGO Advent Calendars fantastic but, looking at this year's, it looks really good. Just like any other Advent Calendar, it comes with 24 gifts. The set costs $39.99 and includes 292 pieces. I personally think this should be $29.99 as $40 is overpricing. There are going to be spoilers in this review about the gifts for each day so SPOILER ALERT. Day 1 brings a Jabba's Sail Barge with nice orange sails, stands on a clear piece and looks very recognisable as the barge. Day 2's gift is the Sarlacc Pit with a small base, some teeth and again, looks very good. Day 3 brings a Demolition Mech Droid used by the Jawas. This looks okay but is a bit plain. Day 4 reveals a Jawa minifigure which looks really good and is even better as, so far, is exclusive to the $300 Sandcrawler set. Day 5's gift is a micro-scale Sandcrawler. This all looks really good except for an awkward angle at the front that, to me, looks odd. Day 6 brings an Ewok weapon stand that looks like a log with a bow, a blaster and a plant. Day 7's gift is a micro-scale Ewok village that has a platform a small fire and distinguishable rooms. I really like this gift. Day 8 brings an Ewok minifigure which is great as it is exclusive to the expensive Ewok village and this is a cheap way to get it. Day 9 reveals an Ewok catapult with 2 spare ammo pieces and a single shrub. Day 10 gives us the new Stormtrooper minifigure which is really nice. Day 11 brings a micro-scale Imperial Star Destroyer which we've had in other Calendars but this one is by far my favourite. Day 12's gift is a nicely detailed blaster rack with the 3 different sizes of blaster. I think this looks really nice. Day 13 gives us an Assassin Droid which looks okay and can be armed with weapons from the previous day's gift. Day 14 brings a Millenium Falcon micro-build that, although is simple, looks really good and recognisable. Day 15 reveals a small stud-shooting turret. This comes with 2 stud shooters mounted on a rotating stand with spare ammo. This has good play-value but looks a bit dull. Day 16 brings a micro-scale A-Wing Starfighter that is simple but effective and looks really good. Day 17 gives us a Rebel Trooper minifigure which is new to this set! He has nice torso detail, a great helmet and a backpack. A fantastic inclusion. Day 18 reveals an AT-AT micro-build that has articulated legs and is all good apart from the neck which looks a bit awkward. Day 19's gift is a small Ion Cannon which is one of my favourite builds. It has a nice laser, lots of rotation and generally looks great. Day 20 brings a mini probe droid that looks nice and hovers on a clear base. Day 21 reveals a small turret with a printed console, trans-blue piece and single stud shooter. Day 22 gives us a Reindeer R2-D2 that is a regular R2 with deer antlers and is really cute. Day 23's gift is a sleigh that has lightsabers as skids. This looks really nice and cute. Day 24, the final day brings us the Santa C-3PO minifigure that is 3PO with a Santa jacket, beard and red bag. He is a really nice way to end advent. Overall, I really like this years Advent Calendar and is a great gift to any kid this Winter.
