LEGO® City Starter Set 60086 Review

The City Starter set is almost three times as expensive with almost three times the pieces as any other starter sets. It costs $29.99 and comes with 242 pieces which is a little too expensive even with the five minifigures included. These are 2 fighfighters, a crook, a police officer and a paramedic pilot. There are five vehicles included with this set which are; a Police ATV, a Fireboat, a Helicopter, a Police Watercraft and a Crooks' Speedboat. The police ATV is a simple build but more detailed than previous versions. It looks good as a vehicle but not really as an ATV. I think it looks a bit too long and a bit more like a cross with a car. It measures 7X5X5cm and I like the light and tyre detail. A trailer, measuring 6X5X2cm, attaches to the back which can carry the watercraft which measures 6X3X3cm. They are both simple but effective builds. The Fireboat measures 18X8X6cm which is a pretty nice size. There's a cab in the middle and a water cannon at the front as well as plenty of space for minifigures. I really like the hull and outboard detailing and I think they make it look really good. The helicopter is used by the medic to access casualties quickly and it measures 17X18X9cm. I like the design with buoyancy tanks and lights. There's space for the pilot in the cockpit as well as an area to attach the stretcher on the side. The Crooks' craft measures 9X5X2cm and allows all three other builds to interact. The outboard motor is on fire, the crook needs medical attention and he also needs arresting. I like the details and colour of this build. As well as all these things, there are 3 life jackets, a pair of handcuffs, a crowbar, a walkie-talkie, a backpack, a first aid kit and 2 banknotes. Overall, I think this a nice set with a fair amount of detail. I like the way the crooks boat incorporates all the services and the models are generally good. However, I think it should be a little cheaper and I think the ATV needs a little work but, apart from that, a good set.
